The clutch is showing itself lately in most runway since the starting of the Spring/Summer 09 shows and has made appearances as well in the Fall09 shows. Will this be the next trend in men’s accessories? We think it will but the only question is how fast will the trend pick itself up and are today’s men daring enough to carry clutches? Yes the association of a clutch is closely associated with women’s wear but if you think back, men have carried clutches in the 60′s and 70′s. Go on and ask your dad, he might have a vintage clutch somewhere stashed away in the closet that you can probably fashion it again.
Also, not all clutches work. It has to depend on your outfits and your own personality. A masculine man would look silly in a shiny light colour clutch with too many details or a flamboyant guy wouldn’t match a classic italian styled dark colour business clutch, and certain guys shouldn’t even bother with clutches, stick to bags please.
Not only it’s a fashionable piece, clutches are functional. It keeps all your stuff handy and all in one place. Innit would recommend to have at least two clutches, one for day use and another for evening use for parties, events, etc…you get the drill. Depending on your own personal style, the day clutch can be a simple envelope clutch with wristlet or even a functional business clutch to use at work. The evening clutch can be an attention grabber with patent leather in dark colours or over sized clutches that is sure to be seen a mile away.
Nevertheless men’s clutches should be simple, sophisticated and functional which suits your own personality, not some other people’s. Find a clutch that would suit your personal style and please avoid lady’s clutches. There are many men’s cluthces to choose from. Be a man.
